This is a wonderful vintage powder compact made by Elgin American, probably during the 1940s. The compact features a striking ornate gold toned metal design on the top against a red background. The interior is gold toned. There is a compartment for powder and a narrow compartment for rouge. There is still some powder present as well as the applicator, but the rouge is untouched in the other compartment. The mirror is very clean, and overall, this compact looks like it saw very little use. It measures 2 3/4 square. The piece is stamped Elgin American. It comes in a cloth storage bag that is signed with what looks like Notman.

This is a lovely compact in beautiful condition - Hollywood glamour!
